HEARING TESTS IN NIAGARA FALLS AND NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE

VISUAL EXAMINATION AND AIR CONDUCTION TESTING

Your ear canal and eardrum will be inspected to check for signs of infection of the ear canal or middle ear, and for ear wax blockages; any of these problems can contribute to hearing loss, and can be treated by a medical doctor. If none of these conditions are present, we will continue with a pure-tone air-conduction test. This test determines the softest tones you can hear at least 50% of the time they are played for you.

During this test, you will sit inside our sound booth wearing earphones. The practitioner plays several tones at different frequencies; these frequencies represent the range of sounds you would commonly hear in the world. Your response is charted on an audiogram, with the resulting graph showing how well your outer and middle ear structures are processing sound.
